Not much is known about the history of this rare gun -- even the date of manufactur is simply a best estimate based on rough copyright information pulled from an old PR sheet. (I've yet to encounter another of these toys, so I can't even ask anyone questions about it...) Nonetheless, this toy delivers on all levels, from its sculptural design to its variety of actions. The Space Commando Inter-Planetary (sic) Megascope is the Swiss Army knife of space toys. Besides being a ray gun, it's also a telescope, a megaphone, and, thanks to both a small light and a signal buzzer, a morse code device. Definitely the tool to have when lost in space. I'm lucky enough to have the toy's wonderful display box, as well as the original instruction/morse code sheet and extremely rare original battery (yep, back in the Fifties, batteries were included). If anyone's got some extra info on either this space gun or Bell Products, please drop me a line.
