Radar Robot (repro)
Tin Tom Toys
2003
9 Inches
Yet another successful Tin Tom Toys reproduction, this time of Nomura's Radar Robot (mid Fifties). A remote control unit (tethered to the toy by a wire) moves the robot forward while his eyes illuminate and the light in his radar dish flashes. Like its cousin the Zoomer robot, in many ways it's strongly representative of the design aesthetic of the Fifties, taking visual cues from cars and trains of the era (just note that silver band running down it's front). Existing in the past it predicted the future -- all with style, panache, and immense fun.
