Hi-Wheel Robot
Yoshiya, 1958
9 inches tall
One of the earlier incarnations of the long-lived Planet Robot, this particular example features tin head, ears, and hands, as well as thicker legs. But what really makes this Robby clone stand out in a crowd is his dark olive green color. Like other wind up Planet robots, he sparks while walking forward. Color variations include the basic black and a snazzy -- ultra rare -- blue one. There's also an even rarer maroon version with crinkle finish. Later examples of the toy would see the inclusion of rubber, then plastic, hands, as well as a plastic head. There's also a blue, remote controlled, battery operated version of the Planet Robot (both with tin and rubber hands).
