Based roughly on the "Robby" design of robots, the Door Robot (so named for the small hatch in its chest) features highly-detailed lithography and an intricate dome assembly. The whole upper plastic portion rotates while internal radar units spin in the opposite direction. At the same time, lights illuminate a spinning colro wheel in the window at the dome's bass. Door robot walks forward with a pin mechanism, while its arms swing back and forth.
This particular example of the toy features a green internal dome structure; most are clear. It's likely that the factory mixed up a bad batch of plastic that day; alternately, they only had transclucent green on hand, and worked with what was available. The end result is a rare variation. The Doctor asks any visitors who know of other Door robots like this one to email him. |
